Greg Codling is having a bit of trouble registering on this Forum so, while we are sorting it out, he has asked me to see if anyone knows what happened to Chubby Smith. If you are in contact with Chubby, or have some idea of his whereabouts, please let us know.

My guess is that Chubby left the RAF after 12 years. In those early years I was always bumping into him around the RAF, most notably when I was on exercise with TCW in Malta (circa 1972/73). Chubby was stationed in Malta at the time, and sought me out in the middle of the night at Hal Far. I think that was the last time I remember seeing him.
In those days we were young and foolish (not like today, when we are old(er) and foolish), so we always expected to bump into old mates again soon. We know different now. _________________ Dave (Dunky) Dunthorn |

Bill Ranson asked me to post this message on his behalf......
I also met Chubby in Malta 1972/3 while I was based at 103 MU at Akrotiri. I used to visit Malta to deal with radfaults etc and met Chubby for more than one crazy nights out. I am not sure if he was nuts or just plain dangerous. _________________ TONY LINDON - click here for 100th Entry web site member's page |
