I have been told that Paddy Allen died on Thursday 28th February 2008. He was being treated for cancer but was near the end of his treatment and, only recently, told me that he would be sending in his biog for the web site. I worked with Paddy at BAe until we both retired in 2000. He was a very likeable chap and one of the 100th Entry 'characters'; I for one will miss him.

Paddy was an insructor on the Airfield at Cosford in 1970 to 1972 when I was teaching Radar equipments and we would see each other a couple of times a month.
We always had a good laugh together winding up the trainees!
I am sure we will always remember his car accident in Bristol Docks after he swerved to miss a cat, bounced off a bollard and rammed their ship which wrote off his Riley Pathfinder.
I think the Navy sent him a bill to repair the scratches on their ship.
Its a sad loss.

Paddy was in my class and we always got on well, had a few good days out in the old Riley. The last time I saw him was in 1970 when I went to do a course at Cosford we had a few good  drinks then. Its a pity that we dont keep in touch with those we like, I can still see his smiling face!

Never bumped into Paddy after we left Locking, but have happy memories of him. At least he has no more pain.

Paddy was definitely one of the characters of the Entry.
After Apprentices, Paddy, Ginge Reynolds and myself were posted to Scampton.
Used to bump into Paddy on occasions and he was always cheerful and good for a laugh.
Unfortunately, I never met up with him again after Scampton and I will always remember him for the character that he was.

the following members have asked me to pass on their sadness at hearing of Paddy's passing and to send their condolences to his family:

Pete Wallace.

Vic Faloon.

John Lockyer.

Bill Curtis, who was in the same room at Locking.

Tom Gerken, who knew him well.

Bob Pearce, who remembers him in the 70's.....
"I came back across him in the late 1970's when we were both working for CSDE and living at Stanmore Park and we both went to Watford Tech to do our HNC. I remember an escapade at the time: money was tight and Paddy was doing a second job as a taxi minicab in his old Citreon. One night he picked up a fare and took him to the M1 service station at Scratchwood where the fellow duly disappeared. Paddy went home and the next day found all this jewellery tucked down the back seat. The fare was obviously a burglar and had legged it when he saw the law at the service station. Paddy then had to take it to the police and explain how he came by it. I lost touch with him when he was posted away from his CSDE job on the Tornado radar at Marconi in Borhamwood".

I remember Paddy as being one of the charecters. I remember the ship incident as he showed me his insurance claim form.  CAUSE OF ACCIDENT.......Collided with a ship.
I also remember his answer to to the short back and sides, He bought a black synthetic Beatles wig, problem was as well as being obvious, it was a bit too big, every time he turned his head the wig stayed where it was and ended up on the side of his head.
